About

An independent shop, one manufacturer

We work on Wolf cooking appliances and nothing else. That is a deliberate limit, and it is the reason a diagnosis takes the time it takes rather than an afternoon.

What independent means here

Pace Island Cooking Service is an independent appliance repair company. We are not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by Wolf or its parent company. All brand names and model numbers are the property of their respective owners and are used only to identify the appliances we service.

We say that plainly, at the top of every page, because it is the honest answer and because the alternative would be a claim we are not entitled to make. What we do have is a narrow focus and the parts knowledge that comes with it.

Credentials we actually hold

  • EPA Section 608 certified technicians.
  • Liability insured.
  • Working on Wolf cooking equipment since 2016 — ranges, rangetops, cooktops, wall ovens, steam and speed ovens, warming drawers, outdoor grills and the ventilation above them.

How a visit is run

A visit starts at the supply and works inward. Voltage at the outlet or the junction box, gas pressure at the appliance under load, then the part that has been accused, then the path that reaches it. A control board fitted onto a supply fault is a board that fails twice, and a good share of what gets called a dead board is a broken path to a healthy one.

One model name can cover several parts revisions, so parts are matched to the serial number on the data plate rather than to the name on the door. Ignition components and sensors are ordinary stock items; boards, gas valves and door assemblies are more often ordered in, which is why the written estimate states a lead time as well as a price.

Why Clay County

Most kitchens on this route are of the last three decades, and the professional appliance in them usually arrived during a remodel rather than with the house. That sequence leaves its own marks: an opening widened without keeping the specified side clearance, a gas run sized for the builder range that used to be there, a dedicated circuit that was shared with whatever was nearest, a hood duct that took the route the framing allowed rather than the shortest one. None of it makes the appliance faulty, but all of it changes what a fault means.

North Florida sees roughly 68 thunderstorm days a year, and the surge that follows a nearby strike is what usually ends a control board, not the strike itself. We have watched that play out after every long outage of the last decade — Matthew in 2016, Irma in 2017, Helene in 2024 — and the pattern repeats: the elements and the igniters survive, the low-voltage logic does not, and some of the boards that were hit fail weeks after the power came back rather than on the night.

Where a fault turns out to sit outside what an independent shop should take on — a sealed high-voltage assembly that is still inside a manufacturer warranty, or an appliance that needs a manufacturer-only diagnostic tool — we say so and tell you who to call instead. Sending you elsewhere costs us one invoice. Guessing on your appliance costs you more than that.
